The city of
Bristol is easily accessed by the M4/M5 motorways and has an airport about 15 miles from the garden.
Unless you
are coming by train or coach, there
is no need to go through the city centre. |

By Airplane:
The airport is situated about 10 miles South West of the centre. Take a taxi directly to the garden giving the driver the above map. It will cost about £18.
If you prefer to go by bus, these go every 30 min from the airport to the coach station where you can pick up a connection to the garden.
By Bus:
The following buses travel to the region of the garden although none goes immediately past the entrance.
No 1 : Cribbs Causeway to Broomhill comes from theTemple Meads train station and city centre every 30 min. The bus reads Cribbs Causeway. Ask to be dropped off at the top of Blackboy Hill.
No 54 and 54B also go to Blackboy Hill and the Downs near to the Botanic Gardens.

By car:
The best exit from the M5 is at junction 17. If you set your milometer at zero when coming off the motorway, follow signs for Bristol(W) and the A4018.
1.8 miles: After about 5 roundabouts you reach the roundabout at Passage Rd. Continue on the A4018 to the city centre along a dual carriageway.
3.5 miles. After 5 sets of traffic lights you reach a roundabout. Continue on the A4018 and the SW. 3.9 miles : You will go up a hill and pass Badmington School on the right. You have now entered the travel map above.
4.2miles : You reach another roundabout with a small hut next to it. Turn right here and then first left into Saville Rd.
Continue down this road until you get to a set of traffic lights where you turn right into Stoke Hill. The road starts to go down the hill, but you need to turn right after 100 yards into Stoke Park Rd.
You will find the Botanic Garden on the right after 100 yards and you will see Churchill Hall on the left. Opposite this is the Holmes and the Botanic Garden. There is limited parking within the garden, so you may be best to park on the road.
If you are attending a course, you should park on the main road and walk 100 yards to the Holmes building just inside the entrance.
By taxi:
The cost of a taxi from the station is about £8.00
On foot :
It will take about an hour to walk from the coach station

Botanic Garden opening times and admission fees for 2010
From April 2010, the garden will be open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
In July, August and September opening times are from 10.00am to 4.30pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
In October the garden is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays from 10.00am to 4.30pm.
In January, February, March, November and December the garden will be open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10.00am until 4.00pm or dusk if earlier. The Welcome Lodge will be closed but information leaflets will be available and a donation form from non-friends is requested.
Admission £3.50
Children under 16 free
Friends of the Botanic Garden - free admission during opening hours
University Staff, University retired staff and students - free admission.
Entrance to the Garden is free to members of the Friends of the Botanic Garden
